How to customize an insect-killing lamp?
One of our Chilean customers wanted a custom-made insect killer lamp. For various reasons, he didn't want to kill the pests directly. So we proposed a simple impact-screen solution. Soon after, our design team came up with the drawings.
Two weeks later, after some preparation, three test samples were produced. Based on his requirements, we designed two types of impact-type insect killer lamps and tested them together with an improved electric-shock-type lamp.
Sample A was an impact-screen type with a metal structure; Sample B was an impact-screen type made of injection-molded material; Sample C was an electric-shock type made of injection-molded material. All three used the same light source.
After a simple five-day test: Sample C had the highest catch; Sample B had a lower catch than C but still quite high; Sample A had far fewer catches than the other two.
All three samples showed signs of pest activity. In Sample C, the wings of Lepidopteran pests were severely damaged, but their survival rate remained quite high. The number of pests in sample A is relatively low. We speculate that the reason might be the excessively high escape rate.
